Church History

History of Our Church

Pittsburg United Methodist Church, founded in 1929, has a rich history.  At that time there were only two churches in Pittsburg,CA.  One was Catholic and the other was Protestant.  Nine Methodist families decided to come togethter and establish a Methodist Church.  With the people's love for Christ their needs grew, the people of the church had to move at least 3 more times so they could have a bigger facility to house the growth of the church. Even after a fire destroyed a major portion in 1957, the people carried on in the Word of God.

The current location on the corner of W. Leland and Crestview was purchased in April of 1959. It is now the home for the Pittsburg United Methodist Church.  It is home to a large family of ethnic groups who worship God together with their whole hearts, minds and souls.  We are proud to be "the church on the corner".

We have the privalege to  share the church building with two other groups,  the Free Church of Tonga and the Inglesia Camino Verdad y Vida.

God Bless You
